Jason Williams, Alexandre Picard, Brian Strait and Joe Morrow were cut from the Penguins this afternoon, trimming the Penguins roster down to 23.
Wiliams, Picard and Strait were sent down to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton but Williams and Picard must clear waivers by Tuesday at noon. Morrow will return to his junior squad.
The Penguins also placed Sidney Crosby, Dustin Jeffrey, Nick Petersen and Robert Bortuzzo on injured reserve. Typically you have to sit out seven days after being removed from IR, but that won't be the case for Crosby. Since he's been on IR since last season, the seven day rule won't apply. As soon as he's ready, he can play.
Also want to point out Richard Park made the starting roster. Called it. Go Pens.
