Featured Fan Friday - Bleeding Black and Gold

Today on Featured Friday we bring you a fan who is a marketing professional for a local area organization that supports the engineering profession. Now that's not to say that this fan is all work and no play. She's grown up with the Penguins her whole life.

Let's get to know Colleen aka @Colleenpburgh a little better shall we?

She has been following the Penguins since a very young age along with her two older sisters thanks to her late father. Her oldest memory of hockey comes at around the age of 6 when she was listening to a gamed on the radio. She remembers hearing Mike Langes voice and the distinction it had when the Pens scored and he said "Look Out Loretta!" She remembers her dad saying that Mike Lange must have been talking about her because Colleen too is a redhead.

It's always a
Great Day for Hockey.
Shortly after that game she received a "Look Out Loretta!" sweatshirt from her dad which she still owns to this day and has even more meaning now because he is no longer here. Ever since that day she has been hooked on hockey.

"I remember going to Mellon Arena from a very young age to see at least one hockey game a season with my father when we were growing up. It was always a treat because we didn't go very often."

Her best experience at a game was when she got to see Mario Lemieux and Wayne Gretzky face-off against each other in Pittsburgh, one of the best games shes ever witnessed. Her oldest sister had Lemieux and Jagr posters all over her bedroom walls as a teen and they even got to meet "Le Magnifique" (The Magnificent) in person after attending his charity golf classic back in the late 90's and is held each year annually.

As hockey has grown on Colleen over the years and especially with the resurgence of the "new era" Pens so to say Fleury quickly became one of her favorite players along with Malkin and Cooke. To see them bring home a 3rd Stanley Cup was such an amazing feat for such a young team. She wears her Fleury and Malkin jerseys to every game she attends along with various other gear she owns. She loves to attend as many games as she can and hopes to see the teams continued success, especially when Crosby eventually returns to the ice.

"It's been great to see these and all the players interact together as a team and make our Pens such a great asset to Pittsburgh."

In her spare time Colleen enjoys volunteering for a local charity that supports autistic children and their families, traveling the county and sometimes the world. She also enjoys spending time with her nephew, learning about craft beer and cheering on the cities other two franchises, the Steelers and Pirates.

Well that about wraps things up for this Friday. Check back next week for another fresh installment and if you wanna be featured just reach me @DeniedByFleury.
