Pens now 4-0 in the preseason:
The Penguins continue to plow through preseason competition as the Boys of Winter won a shootout last night 3-2 over the Kings in... Kansas City? Practically was a home crowd for the Pens. Did anyone else find it strangely unsettling the turnout of support for the Pens in the arena which could have been their new barn in a city which could have been their new home? Either way, we won.
Of all people, Matt Niskanen gets the game winner in the eighth round of the shootout. I forgot he was still on the roster... Engelland, another blue liner fighting for a roster spot, scored for the Pens as did Kunitz. Malkin scored in the shootout. Marc-Andre Fleury looked solid in his first full game of the preseason.
Pens special teams were not as impressive last night. Pens couldn't capitalize on a lengthy 5-on-3 and Kings scored with :02 left on a penalty which ended up sending the game to overtime.
Friday night the Pens are heading to the Windy City to take on the Blackhawks once more. This game is actually on TV [NHL Network], unlike last night. Good thinkin' NHL.
