Alright, lets cut to the chase, there's good news and bad new 'round these parts. Kunitz is out two weeks with an ailing lower body injury and rightly added to the banner. As with Geno, he was playing through it but its necessary to get rested for the mid to late season rush like we did last year. And the other thing, well we ALL know the other thing. Geno's baaaaaaaaaaaack! And the best part...he'll be on Sid's line along with Fedotenko. This move clearly shows Bylsma's desperation to get the offense going. And quite honestly that's the smartest thing he could do. When these two are on the ice good things will inevitably happen. The streak needs to end here.
So what are we going to be up against. Well, we just played the Bruins and they shut us out. Why? Are they strong defensively? Do they have more fire power? Kinda, and the other night, yes. Good thing is the Kunitz-Staal-Guerin line looked real good. Likely Bylsma will put either Cooke or Dupuis up on the line in Kuni's place. Which is fine, both of those guys play similar styles to Kuni so it shouldn't be too much of an adjustment. So in effect the Pens should look much better offensively and could likewise take advantage of an injury prone Bruins squad. Thomas will once again be in net, but will he be ready for Sid and Geno at once, all game? I don't think so.
And if you're going to the game tonight don't forget to WELCOME GENO BACK with us. Since this is a pretty late pregame here this will likely be the last thing your read before heading out, so now's your chance!
PREGAME QUOTE FROM SID:
"It's a matter of time. That's how hockey works, it's not always fair and it doesn't always seem like it's right. I thought there were some chances to be had and some goals to be had."
Tonight's video is of their meeting on Oct 20th, 2008 and a Malkin's SO win!
