The Penguins were able to lure former Buffalo Saber and St. Louis Blues defenseman Jay "The Key" McKee to a one year $800k contract. This is quite a significant reduction in salary for McKee as he made upwards of $4mm per year last year. In my humble opinion this is a top notch signing for the Pens to replace the likes of Scuderi and Gill and is a testament to McKee's willingness to take less money at a shot at The Cup. Could he have signed elsewhere for more, I'm sure more than $800k, but with the Blues buying out his remaining year, it made his decision that much easier. At 6'4 210 lbs, lookout for "The Key" to make a big impact this year.
